As a buyer, you have the option to work with a licensed real estate agent who will guide you through every step of the process — from getting prequalified and finding the right home to making an offer, negotiating, and closing. Many sellers offer a cooperating compensation to the buyer’s agent as an incentive for buyers. What Is A Buyer's Agency agreement?
A buyer’s agency agreement is a formal contract that states that you are working exclusively with one real estate agent in the purchase of your home. This helps protect the real estate agent from working hard and spending numerous hours with a client who may eventually allow a friend or family member with a real estate license to take over and earn the commission. Agents do not receive a commission until after the transaction closes, so a Buyer’s Agency Agreement keeps the transaction fair to all parties involved.
